We recommend you to visit this church and its courtyard nearby. You will be fascinated by the views of a majestic Tower as the crown of the Plaza de España.

The church is a few meters from the Plaza de España if you access by Salazar street, so it will be easy for you to access and you can take advantage of your visit passing through other monuments and places of interest near this place.

Why is it called a Hospital?

There were two healthcare hospitals before the 18th century in Montoro. One of them was in Plaza Mayor devoted to Crucified Christ and the other was nearly San Juan de Letrán, with the name of the Charity where poor patients of solemnity were cared for.

The entire building

The building has three main doors from an architectural point of view. Two of them are on the facade, coinciding with the access to the current home for the elderly and the entrance to the church.

The third door is located in the hall of the building and it is related to the original door of the Jesus of Nazareth chapel.

Regarding the church, it has a single nave with a headboard in which a large vault is opened with elements devoted to the Order of Saint Vincent de Paul. It has light colours and it is decorated with figures of popes in each of its pendants. We advise you to visit it because it is one of the most beautiful vaults in Montoro.

You can’t miss: the courtyard

The beauty of the courtyard is spectacular. It is one of the best examples of this type of civil architecture in the province.
